What is Google DSC? How to become a DSC lead?
DSC lead applications open in January every year. And as you landed on this page means that you definitely searched for “How to become a DSC Lead” on Google or maybe DSC Lead applications are again open for this year and that’s why you all are here to know more about Google DSC and how to become a Google DSC Lead.
As a DSC Lead at AISSMS College of Engineering, Pune for the year 2020–21, I am more than happy to give all the information you need about Google Developer Student Club.
In this article, I will be sharing with you guys more about the eligibility criteria to become a Google DSC Lead, the application procedure, and the responsibilities of a Google DSC Lead.

What is Google DSC(Developer Student Clubs)?
GDSC means Google Developer Student Clubs. It is a technical community that combines all the university students, and all the other students who learn, share ideas and come up with viable projects that are likely to solve day-to-day problems supported by Google. Google DSC is a global-level community.
Eligibility criteria for becoming a DSC lead
- You must be 18+ years old
- You must have to be enrolled in an undergraduate program at college or university
- You must be currently studying in either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year.
- You must be committed to the program.
Responsibilities of a Google DSC Lead
- Creating a technical community on your campus
- Hosting regular workshops, expert talks, hands-on sessions, hackathons on your campus
- Spreading the awareness about Google technologies and Google products
- Actively attending programs of other Google communities such as Devfest of Google Developers Group.
- Mentoring others in the field of development and community building.
- Guiding and inspiring students to take part in Solution Challenge and other Competitions
- Mentoring the students and motivating other students to the same.

Application process
- You can apply from here
- Fill in your personal details
- Add the nomination code if you have received one from your previous DSC Lead or any other Google DSC lead form last year.
- Share your social media profiles. E.g. Linkedin, personal website, GitHub
- This is an important step and one of the important factors based on which your profile will be judged.
- If you have some time in your hand I will suggest improving your social media profiles and update with your latest achievements.
5. Answer the community-related questions
- Community questions are asked to check your attitude towards the community so answer accordingly.
- And most importantly, be honest!
6. Record a 90-sec video explaining why the Google DSC team should select you as a lead
- Try to be as informative as possible in less time
- Be honest and explain why you would be the best fit to lead the community of Google DSC.
